Exploring the Fragile Concept of Home

These pieces explore the multifaceted concept of what “home” means to us as individuals and as a collective society. Home is more than a physical space; it embodies safety, aspiration, belonging, identity, and memories. It can be our sanctuary where we find comfort and solace, but this refuge can be shattered in an instant, and I wonder then, what is left behind?

This body of work is my attempt at making sense of those complicated ideas and feelings.  I reflect on the fragility of ‘home’ in the context of violence and war but also the everyday occurrences that impact our home spaces like grief, change of circumstance, relationship breakdown and new beginnings.

Layers of fragmented imagery, distorted forms, and haunting voids mirror the complexity of these concepts and symbolize the disintegration of familiar spaces and the lingering impact on the human spirit. By exploring these moments of upheaval, I hope to evoke empathy and understanding, inviting viewers to reflect on our vulnerability and to remind us of our shared humanity and that the desire for a place to call home is universal.
